It is important to look into the deceased memberships and associations as there may be benefits you can claim.
Pensioners receive some government benefits for help towards funeral expenses. If the deceased was an ex-serviceperson the surviving partner may be entitled to claim for a funeral benefit from the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Some unions, lodges, medical benefit funds, etc. also offer members a funeral benefit.
